Hi Folks:
When Pat sent this new writing to me this am I was sure that as I have wondered lately that many of you out there were thinking the same. I cannot watch the news without wondering why a 4 year old was shot in gangland fighting, or the devastation of the earthquakes and fires. Sometimes I think God may be too busy with it all for my requests and then I am reassured that we have a wonderful God that does in fact count every hair on our head. We are all his children and the love that he has for us is greater than we can imagine. Spend your day in peace knowing that God is protecting us all. In his love,
julie
Where is God? Have you been reading the newspaper lately? Have you seen the devastations on TV? Can your mind wrap around the numbers of the dead and missing? Is it any wonder that the world is asking us, "Where is your God of love now?" Perhaps you're having a hard time answering them because you're beginning to wonder yourself.
I read something last evening that may provide an answer for us. A little boy went up to his geography teacher and said, "I know you're teaching that the world is round like a ball. But I have to tell you, I don't believe you for one minute!"
The teacher looked at him in surprise and said, "I'm your teacher. I know about these things. Why would you doubt my word?"
The little tyke looked up at him and replied, "I've seen pictures of the desert. It's flat. There's no curve anywhere. I've seen pictures of mountains and deep valleys. There's no curves there either. The ocean goes on and on for miles. No ship has ever fallen off the curve. No, I can't believe what you're saying."
The teacher smiled. "Son, she said, " if you went up high enough, you would see the curve of the earth. Then you would know for certain that I am telling you the truth."
Can't we take God at His Word? Can't we rest in His promise that He would never leave us nor forsake us? Aren't the very hairs on our head numbered? Where is God? Right here beside us no matter what we go through. Those who are going through such tragedy right now have the same opportunity right now to feel His loving arms around them; to hear His blessed voice saying, "Be not afraid. I am with you. I will bring you Home."
This world has never been a friend to man, and it never will be. It's the loving arms of our Savior that keeps us in it. We can trust Him to see us through it, whether we're living in a safe place right now, or in turmoil. God's hand is ever with us. We just need to look up higher and hold on. I don't know about you, but my God is right here regardless.....and that's reason enough to dance!
